Nb-10%W-2.5Zr (Nb Cb-752) is a solid-solution strengthened niobium-based alloy containing 10% tungsten (W) and 2.5% zirconium (Zr). With a density of approximately 9.03 g/cm³, it was designed to significantly enhance high-temperature mechanical properties and oxidation resistance—leveraging solid-solution strengthening and second-phase dispersion strengthening—while retaining the lightweight advantage of niobium. The addition of tungsten boosts the alloy's high-temperature strength and hardness and improves its creep resistance, while zirconium enhances its resistance to oxidation and corrosion by molten alkali metals.

The alloy retains over 80% of its strength at high temperatures (1,500°C); its structural characteristics provide excellent high-temperature stability and creep resistance. It does not become brittle or crack at cryogenic temperatures as low as -200°C, and its coefficient of thermal expansion is only one-third that of ordinary metals. Through precise control of composition and processing techniques, the alloy exhibits good room-temperature ductility—facilitating various forming operations—while maintaining high strength and hardness.
