Titanium Grade 12 (Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni) is a near-alpha titanium alloy containing beta-stabilizing elements.
Nickel (0.6–0.9%) promotes the formation of NiTi2 intermetallic compounds, thereby inhibiting crevice corrosion. This alloy offers unique advantages in moderately corrosive industrial environments, particularly for cost-sensitive corrosion-resistant equipment, representing an optimal balance between cost and corrosion resistance.
Chemical Processing Equipment: High-pressure hydrometallurgical reactors (resistant to mixed H2SO4-HCl acids); flue-gas desulfurization (FGD) system spray headers (pH 1–2 environments).
Marine Engineering: Heat exchanger tubes for seawater desalination (resistant to Cl⁻ corrosion); subsea cable armor (resistant to microbial corrosion).
Energy Sector: Geothermal well casings (resistant to H₂S-CO₂-Cl⁻); nuclear waste disposal containers (resistant to long-term radiation-induced corrosion).
