Titanium Grade 9 (Ti-3Al-2.5V) is a near-alpha titanium alloy (consisting of an alpha phase and a small amount of beta phase)
The aluminum content (2.5–3.5%) stabilizes the alpha phase and enhances heat resistance, while the vanadium content (2.0–3.0%) retains the beta phase and improves cold formability. It is formable at room temperature and exhibits excellent weldability. Compared to high-strength titanium alloys (such as Grade 5/Ti-6Al-4V), Grade 9 has lower aluminum and vanadium content; while its strength is slightly lower, it offers superior ductility and weldability, making it particularly suitable for applications such as thin-walled tubing and heat exchangers.
The chemical composition of Titanium Grade 9 is designed to provide a balance of moderate strength, excellent workability, and corrosion resistance, leading to widespread use—especially in the field of tubing.
