Titanium Grade 36 (Ti-45Nb) is a beta-type titanium alloy with niobium (Nb) as the primary alloying element; it features a uniquely low elastic modulus, superplastic forming capability, and excellent biocompatibility
Ultra-low elastic modulus
Elastic modulus: ~55–65 GPa (close to the 30 GPa modulus of human bone and far lower than the 110 GPa of Ti-6Al-4V), significantly reducing the "stress shielding effect" and making it an ideal material for orthopedic implants (such as artificial joints and bone screws). Superplasticity: Elongation can exceed 500% at high temperatures (700–900°C), making it suitable for the precision forming of complex shapes. Cold workability: Capable of direct cold rolling and drawing with a low work-hardening rate. Industrial applications: Seals for chemical processing equipment (acid corrosion resistance); matrix material for superconducting materials (leveraging the low-temperature properties of Nb).
