Tantalum-10% Tungsten (Ta-10W) is a heat-resistant tantalum-based alloy containing approximately 10% tungsten, designated as UNS R05255. The ASTM B708 standard classifies alloy R05255 (90% tantalum, 10% tungsten) as a tantalum-containing alloy, supplied in the form of sheets and plates.
Compared to pure tantalum, the addition of tungsten significantly increases the material’s mechanical strength and heat resistance, while maintaining the excellent corrosion resistance characteristic of tantalum. As a result, the Ta-10W alloy is ideally suited for use under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, in corrosive environments, and in a vacuum.
Ta-10W alloy sheets and plates are characterized by high tensile strength and yield strength, as well as exceptional resistance to high temperatures and corrosion. They are used in the aerospace industry, liquid rocket engines, high-temperature vacuum furnaces, equipment for the chemical industry, and as high-temperature structural components.

One of the most important applications of Ta-10W is in high-temperature components for the aerospace industry, including rocket engine components and combustion chambers for liquid-fuel rocket engines.
