Ti-6246 (Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo) is a high-strength, heat-treatable α+β-type titanium alloy, designated UNS R56260. The strength, fatigue strength, and mechanical properties of this alloy are improved at high temperatures due to the inclusion of alloying elements such as aluminum, tin, zirconium, and molybdenum.
Compared to the widely used Ti-6Al-4V alloy, Ti-6246 offers higher strength and better hardenability. With appropriate heat treatment and aging, it can achieve higher tensile and yield strengths. The tensile strength of Ti-6246 in the heat-treated condition can reach approximately 1,100 MPa or higher, although specific properties depend on the plate thickness, microstructure, and heat treatment process.
Ti-6246 alloy plates offer exceptional strength, fatigue strength, heat resistance, and creep resistance, making them suitable for use in aircraft engines, gas turbines, and other structural components that require a high strength-to-weight ratio and high-temperature performance.
It is primarily used for: compressor discs, fan discs, motor blades, compressor components, and high-temperature structural components.
Ti-6246 is used in turbines, discs, and other high-temperature components in the aerospace, industrial, and racing sectors.
Can be used for: high-strength structural panels, engine structural components, load-bearing components in the aerospace industry, and structural components operating in high-temperature environments.
Suitable for applications requiring: high strength, low density, fatigue resistance, high-temperature resistance, and creep resistance.
Ti-6246 can also be used for high-temperature, high-strength components in deep-well drilling tools.
