The C-103 alloy possesses excellent high-temperature strength, low density, high-temperature stability, and superior performance in vacuum conditions, making it suitable for use in the aerospace industry, rocket engines, high-temperature vacuum equipment, and other specialized high-temperature environments.

C-103 niobium wire is manufactured using processes such as melting, forging, rolling, drawing, and heat treatment. Products with various diameters, conditions, surface finishes, and lengths can be manufactured to meet customer specifications.

Depending on the customer’s additive manufacturing equipment, process parameters, and requirements for the final product, the diameter, surface finish, coiling method, dimensional tolerances, and chemical composition of C-103 wire can be customized.

Currently, the primary ASTM standard for niobium-hafnium alloy products is ASTM B655, which specifically covers alloy R04295, a niobium alloy containing approximately 10% hafnium and 1% titanium.

Applications

01

High-Temperature Connectors and Fasteners

C-103 wire can be further processed into: wire components, fasteners, high-temperature fasteners, pins, clamps, supports, and small brackets.

02

Additive Manufacturing with Laser Deposition

Laser-fed additive manufacturing uses C-103 metal wire as the raw material, melting the wire with a laser and depositing it layer by layer.

03

Welding and Special Joints

C-103 wire has good weldability on its own; therefore, C-103 wire can be used for: specialty welding, high-temperature structural joints, repair of aerospace components, and welding operations, depending on the customer’s requirements for the welding process.

04

Additive Manufacturing

C-103 niobium wire can be used as a metal feedstock for the additive manufacturing of high-temperature aerospace components. It is suitable for laser-fed additive manufacturing and wire-fed arc additive manufacturing. Additive manufacturing with wire allows for the creation of complex geometric shapes, the production of parts with virtually no additional processing, and improved material utilization.

05

3D printing

C-103 (Nb-10Hf-1Ti) is a niobium-based superalloy. Additive manufacturing processes using metal wire as raw material enable the production of complex parts made of the C-103 superalloy, which is particularly well-suited for the aerospace industry.
