Compared to pure niobium, adding zirconium to niobium-1-zirconium (Nb-1Zr) rods improves the material’s strength and stability at high temperatures, while maintaining good ductility, corrosion resistance, and machinability.
Nb-1Zr rods are suitable for high-temperature, vacuum, aerospace, and specialized engineering applications. They can be used to manufacture various high-temperature structural components and precision parts using turning, milling, grinding, and other machining methods.
ASTM B392 is the applicable standard for bars, rods, and wire made of niobium and niobium alloys, including two Nb-1Zr grades: R04251 Type 3 and R04261 Type 4.
Key specifications of Nb-1Zr bars:
- Good strength at high temperatures
- Good creep resistance
- Good corrosion resistance
- Good plasticity and fluidity
- Good workability
- Suitable for use in vacuum and high-temperature environments
